Yangzhou(Yizheng) Automotive Industrial Park (YAIP) was established in May, 2003 to satisfy the strategic layout of SAIC, which is the “Provincial Unique Industry Base of Auto and Auto Parts” as well as the “National Torch Program Industrial Base of Auto and Auto Parts”. YAIP has a planned area of 38.9 km2 with Nanjing-Nantong Highway in the south, Nanjing-Qidong Railway in the north, Long River in the east and Xupu River in the west, which provides four comprehension functions including production, research and development, logistics, trade, residence and recreation.

At present, there are two whole vehicle manufacturing companies in YAIP, SAIC (Yizheng) Passenger Car Co. Ltd and Shanghai Huizhong Light Vehicle Manufacturing Factory, producing self-owned brand car “ROEWE” W5 SUV and minibus “ISTANA”. SAIC (Yizheng) Passenger Car Co. Ltd is adjusting its production line for the production of Santana B2 and Vista this year.

In July, 2010, Shanghai Volkswagen invested RMB 10.006 Billion Yuan to settle its fifth factory in YAIP with annual capacity of 300,000. In August, 2010, the project started construction and was predicted to be finished by the first half of 2012, aiming to become a first class leading whole vehicle manufacturing base in the world. At present, there are scattered more than 70 auto part companies in YAIP, such as Yanfeng Visteon, Dazhong Lianhe, Shanghai Huizhong, Johnson Automotive Seating, Minqi Aluminum Wheel, Anji-CEVA Automotive Logistics, Nippon Piston Ring (NPR), Asimco Camshaft, SSANG YONG Gear BOX, forming a cluster trend of automotive industrialization.

Before the end of the “The Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, YAIP will develop itself based on its goal of “good value, quality and reputation” and support the development strategies of SAIC to improve the park to a new area providing high standard comprehensive services as an industrial park with billions of production.
